What To Expect

Your tour guide/ driver will pick you up from your hotel/ accommodation and take you to the imposing Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one the world’s largest mosques and a massive architectural work of art that intentionally blends different Islamic architectural schools. It features 82 domes, more than 1,000 columns, 24-carat-gold gilded chandeliers and the world's largest hand-knotted carpet. The main prayer hall is dominated by one of the world’s largest chandeliers.

This is one of the most prominent symbols of contemporary Islamic architecture in the world. It took 11 years to complete this immense mosque, which covers over 30 acres of Land. The incredible view of the Grand Mosque will be a feast for your eyes as it combines the cultural diversity of Islamic art with modern architecture and design. The exterior surfaces of the Grand Mosque are covered in Sivec marble from Greece and Macedonia and its main dome is one of the largest mosque-domes in the world. Get to the Mosque to watch its rich traditional designs from floor to ceiling. The mosque offers plenty of attractions, most notable among them are the world’s largest hand-woven carpet (measuring around 60,570 sq ft. this carpet was hand-woven by about 1,200 - 1,300 carpet knitters), the world's largest marble mosaic floral design, the world's third-largest chandelier (that adorns the main prayer hall), and glass panels studded with Swarovski crystals. The Mosque interiors are richly decorated with verses of the Holy Quran in three varieties of Arabic calligraphy. As you move around the premises you can see the reflective pools that surround the Mosque, which in turn amplify its beauty. Overall you will never get tired exploring this gigantic structural masterpiece. After completing the Mosque visit and a few memorable photo sessions, you will be dropped back at your hotel/ accommodation.

The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan built this mosque to convey historic consequence and to embody the Islamic message of peace, tolerance and diversity. He intended that the Grand Mosque be a living reference of modern Islamic architecture that links the past with the present and creates a place of Islamic science and learning that would reflect genuine Islamic values.

A lovely tour guide after the name Fouza really gave us an insight to the history behind The Grand Mosque. The structure, the history and the decor of this beautiful Mosque was extraordinary. Was absolutely speechless once seeing the Mosque from afar and completely lost for words once entering the Mosque. Mash’Allah to it all!!

As the name suggest " Grand Mosque" is actually very grand and beautiful, made out of White marble this mosque is a landmark icon of Abu dhabi, its so huge that more than 30000 people can pray together, beautiful architecture, well maintained and the best thing to see is the carpet inside the mosque, and the chandeliers...must visit for every tourist

Living in Abu Dhabi I always take our visitors to see this beautiful mosque so I've been lucky enough to enjoy many of the walking tours. Our fantastic guide this past Sun (Zayed) just raised the bar again for being an amazing ambassador for this great country and educating us about his faith. Thank you Zayed for all the insight and philosophy you shared with us. You're a young bloke with a wise head on your shoulders. We wish you well in all that you are setting out to do. From the 3 Aussies and the Italian that enjoyed your tour on Sun 18th Sep (12:00 midday).

Stunning Mosque- stay covered
Annalyzing91, 04-03-2020
My family and I went to see The Grand Mosque whilst in Abu Dhabi. It is extremely well organized! Ladies and men need to be covered so get clean overalls with hoods to stay covered. Women can’t have their hair showing so definitely bring a hairband along! Men receive trousers to wear over their shorts so their legs are covered, but can wear T-shirts. The entrance is extremely modern and clean, but it’s quite a long walk until you come up to the Mosque. Once there you are able to take photographs, but men are not allowed to touch women so make sure you don’t hold hands, kiss or hold each other around the waist.
Expensive after all

We took an Uber to the mosque with great expectations & kept in mind to dress properly in order to honor the local rules. I, the only female in my group of 4, wore a knitted pant and long sleeve sweater. And, I also had brought a cotton scarf to cover my hair.
The entrance to the mosque is free of charge.
Upon entering I was told, that my outfit was too see through (if caught by the sun), which I did not agree with. I had to purchase a whole new outfit in one of the many shops. Almost every woman I saw had the same experience. I have to add that the shops are expensive.
This took from our mosque experience, which was over within half an hour.
Sad, but true.
