WOW—you need to do this tour!

This was one of the best tours we did on our honeymoon in April 2019. The cultural center is in one of the oldest houses in the neighborhood. We spend about 30 minutes learning about Arabic hospitality and were served coffee and nibbles. We then started the walking bit of the tour—it is a nice departure from the opulence of modern Dubai. We were able to spend time at the mosque (one of two what allows non Muslims). We were given clean robes to wear in the mosque since we were wearing shorts/short sleeves. After the tour we roamed the neighborhood on our own. The call to pray is still one of most beautiful things you will experience. We loved this tour and wanted to go back the next day!
Authentic and informative

We were impressed with the presenter’s depth of knowledge and enjoyed our walk through the old town. My only complaint was that there was a man on the tour who was recording everything, had his mic constantly in the presenter’s face, and was always blocking the way of others trying to take photos.
Must go!!!!

Excellent tour. Very interesting, our guide was very nice and really make us feel home, explaining many aspectos of this amazing culture.
You visit a tradicional house, the old village, some artisans and a neighborhood moske.
If you go to Dubai you must do this!
A little gem ...

The Al Fahidi Historical neighbourhood along the Creek said to have been built in the 1787's primarily by Persions, whose architecture is still to be seen in the few "wind towers", is a little gem inside a never ending skyscrapper type of country. I had visited it some years ago ( on a one day stop over to Tokyio) and noticed quite a few changes, among which the fact that the fort is not open for visits anymore; there is a visiting fee to be paid now; the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid for Cultural understanding House Museum is open to the public now.
A tour to close the cultural gap

Like other reviewers commented, this is indeed a hidden gem. We learned a lot about the culture, wish we had done this at the beginning of the trip. The tour guide is knowledgeable and humorous.
the other side of dubai

Interesting little tour and a great guide

After the madness of a day in Dubai, this was a very refreshing down to earth tour that just told us a little more about life and customs in the UAE, with a very funny and charismatic tour guide (Fatayah). As well as a tour round some of the old city and into a mosque we got the lowdown on the code of unspoken signals in their culture - the signal you make when you want more tea, or the scent you waft around when you're ready for your guests to leave, as well as the reality of relationships between different denominations (when a sunni marries a shia they call the couple sushi!).

Clearly UAE is still a very conservative country, but this tour really humanised the culture, helped show how much there is in common with more western cultures, and helped us see a day-to-day reality of a religion and culture without a media or political agenda skewing the message.
